Homelab

My very own basement datacenter

— Homelab / Proxmox / Debian / Home Assistant / Linux / Self-hosting

The goal of my homelab is to run my current services (website, game-servers, dev environment and other miscellaneous things). I want to self host as much as I can, instead of giving away all my precious data away to megacorps. It's also a really great way to learn stuff. I can very confidently attribute most of my DevOps and Linux knowledge to this homelab.

My homelab has changed a lot since I first started it in late 2021. It began as a single Raspberry Pi 3B+ that I was gifted for my birthday in 2018. It's still running today, but has changed roles many times! For now, I will describe the current setup as of August 2026, but it's almost certain it will change.

Overview

At the core of my homelab are quite a diverse number of physical servers. Most of these are some form of mini-pc bought used. None of the servers are actually rack mounted (kinda) or large at all.

Heres the list of the current machines:

  • Acemagic AM06 Pro Ryzen 7 mini pc
  • Aoostar R7 Ryzen 7 NAS mini pc
  • 3 HP Elitedesk 800 G3 Minis
  • Dell Wyze 3040 thin-client
  • AMD BC250
  • Raspberry Pi 3B+

In my opinion its quite a weird assortment of computers, but that's why I like it.

They all run a different gamut of operating systems and software, but generally the AM06 runs Proxmox, where most of my stuff is running. My 3 Elitedesk mini all run Proxmox, but this time in a cluster, completely separate from the main Proxmox node. The Aoostart R7 is a dualbay NAS, which runs Debian with ZFS. The Wyze 3040 is weird, but its perfect for running Home Assistant. The Raspberry Pi runs my reverse DNS and my uptime monitoring (the stuff I really need to be up at all times).

Finally, the latest addition to my homelab, an AMD BC250. This ones is also kinda weird, its a PS5 APU in the format of a blade server. Because it uses GDDR6 for its iGPU memory, its also really usefull for running LLM inference, which is what I use it for.

Quite a diverse and weird setup in my opinion.
